Notes for James Fletcher LOWREY

Fletcher Lowrey was the Captain of Co. L Phillip's Legion Georgia Infantry enlisted March 15, 1862. Wounded at Saylor's Creek, Va. on Apri. 6, 1865. Was WIA and captured. Admitted to 1st Division, 6th Army Corps Hospital, Army of Potomact on 4/6/1865. Transferred to general hospital in Burkeville, Va. Died from effects of Chloroform while amputating leg. He is probably buried in Burkeville, VA.

A brief Federal Hospital record states "Shell, fracture fibula and tibia left leg, severe."
