| This
genealogy site is dedicated to the Lowrey, Lowery and Lowry families
that lived in Georgia in the late 1700's and the 1800's. Some of them
remained there and some of them moved on to Alabama, Mississippi,
Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas and beyond.
Although many of these people were undoubtedly related, it is not clear
which ones were and in what way. Records show many instances in which
people with the same or similar last name married one another or lived
near to one another, in many cases on adjacent property. The spelling of
the name can vary from LOWREY to LOWERY to LOWRY depending, apparently,
on who was writing the name. When speaking of the three names as one
group, I have chosen to use LOWREY, simply because I spell my own last
name that way and, for as long as I can remember, I have had to endure
having it misspelled. It needs all of the exposure it can get. |

| The purpose of this site is
to provide a meeting place for the descendants of these families and
perhaps further our understanding of how our Georgia ancestors fit into
the overall picture. The different lines are organized into Family
Groups. Each Family Group consists of the oldest proven ancestor and his
descendants. The body of work presented here consists of information
contributed by people who have worked long and hard to procure
documentation for their ancestry. It is my intention to preserve the
integrity of the site's contents by presenting the information as it is
submitted and only that which is reasonably documented. Much of
the information contained in the Family Groups was submitted by fellow
researchers and I have included the sources as they cited them. I do not
possess the original documents, etc. so I cannot personally
guarantee the accuracy of the information contained in the groups. This
is a work in progress and, therefore, always "under
construction". |
